Training a church media team.

A practical routine for helping volunteers feel confident on Sunday.

Start small

New volunteers learn fastest when they have one job and one session of hands-on practice. Give each person a clear role before the day: Scripture, songs and slides, or livestream.

A simple rehearsal routine

  1. Midweek: build the service order in the planner, with songs, readings and announcements.
  2. Run it once with the people who will run it on Sunday, on the same computer and screens.
  3. Test the microphone feed if you use live Scripture detection, and check the meter moves.
  4. Check every output: the room, the stage and the stream.
  5. Write down what went wrong and fix it before the next service.

Sunday checklist

  • Computer plugged in and notifications off
  • Microphone input chosen and the level meter moving
  • Service order loaded and the first item ready
  • Projector, stage and livestream outputs checked
  • A second person who knows how to take over

PulpitCue guides

We write the training alongside the software. Start with getting started, then songs, the service planner, live Scripture and the phone remote. Browse them all in the help centre.
